If your anything like me, you have probably been speculating about how much revenue the legal marijuana market would be bringing in during 2016. I thought it was going to be close to $10 billion, looks like I underestimated the market. According to ArcView Market Research, reported revenue of legal marijuana for 2016 was $12 billion, that’s a 30% increase from the previous year. Projections suggest that the marijuana industry will have close to $28 billion in sales by 2021; however, if I’ve learned anything this year, that’s to not underestimate the market, that figure could be much higher.
Forbes is quoted as saying that the marijuana industry growth rate is higher than that of the doc-com era according to ABC news. Unless you have been living under a rock the past decade, you must know how amazing that statement is for the marijuana industry.
This was a big year for the weed industry. Nine states voted on bills that would in some way legalize marijuana in their respective states. California, Nevada, Massachusetts and Maine.
Whichever side of the fence you stand on, there is no denying the explosive nature of the marijuana industry and the positive outcomes for tax revenue and medicinal applications.
How about Marijuana Revenue in 2017?
I was wrong with my 2016 legal marijuana industry revenue projections, but I’d like to take another shot at 2017. I’m guessing that the marijuana industry will bring in $16.2 billion in revenue in 2017, but I want to hear your projections. How much revenue do you think the marijuana industry will bring in 2017?
